Jan. 30, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Wilbert L. Ertl, 84, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at home. He was born on September 11, 1932 in LeRoy, WI. His parents were Phillip and Barbara. He married Marcella on October 8, 1955 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Slinger.
He was a US Army Korean War Veteran. Wilbert was employed as a machinist for Gehl Company and also a school bus driver for Johnson Bus Company. He enjoyed playing Sheepshead, polka dancing and giving wagon and sled rides to his grandchildren.
Wilbert was a member of St. Frances Cabrini and the West Bend American Legion Post 36 (Lt. Ray Dickop Post).
He is survived by his wife, Marcella; children: Bernadette, Steven, James (Christine), Christine (Lee), Elaine (Kevin), Bernard, Robert (Jen) and Linda (Michael); grandchildren: Christopher, Douglas, Heath, Jared, Kaitlin, Kristin and Eric; siblings: Charles (Elaine), David (Gabriel), Barbara (Robert), Thomas, Mary (Bill) and Joseph (Barb); siblings-in-law Beverly and Rita.
Wilbert is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Ray, Andrew and Alois; sister-in-law Linda.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 6 PM at St. Frances Cabrini Parish (1025 S 7th Ave, West Bend) with Fr. Nathan Reesman presiding. The Visitation will be held at church on Wednesday, February 1 from 4 PM until the time of Mass at 6: PM. Interment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park on Thursday, February 2 at 9:00 AM.
