Russell Henry Boothroyd, 98, died May 4, 2016 at Kathy Hospice in West Bend.
The son of Grant Clair and Emma Boothroyd, Russ was born on March 24, 1918 in Janesville, WI, where he grew up. He graduated from UW-Madison in 1940 and served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II. Most of his working life he was in the personnel department of the Wisconsin Telephone Company.
Russ was pre-deceased by his wife of 65 years, Marie (Westphal) and his brother Claude. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Anna-Mae (Near); two daughters, Susan (Norman) Loomer of Ripon and Barbara (Jeffry) Terry of Howell, MI; four grandchildren, David (Lesley) Loomer, Jonathan (Lisa) Loomer, Kathryn (Paul) Hauser, and Bradley (Trisha) Terry; four great-grandsons, Michael, Ryan, and JJ Loomer and Bennett Terry. He is also survived by Anna-Mae’s five children, 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Russ and Marie (and then Russ and Anna-Mae) were able to enjoy travel and an extended family. When Russ retired he and Marie moved to Bella Vista, AR where they lived for nine years. Then they moved back to Wisconsin to live at Cedar Ridge in West Bend. Russ was an active member of the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend.
A memorial service to celebrate Russ’s life will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 323 S. Fifth Avenue, West Bend. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to 5th Ave United Methodist Church or Cedar Community in Russell’s name.
