Obit: Roger A. Bauer, 82, Kewaskum

Roger A. Bauer, 82, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Bend.

Roger was born on May 22, 1934, in LeRoy, the son of the late Louis and Evelyn (Ertl) Bauer. On April 30, 1955, he was united in marriage to Elaine Patoka at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Elaine preceded Roger in death on March 11, 2008.

Roger was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. He retired after 40 years of employment at Weasler Engineering in West Bend. Roger enjoyed playing sheepshead, making “Bauer” homemade sausage, working in his shed, and following the Brewers and Packers. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those Roger leaves behind to cherish his memory include four children, Sandra (Richard) McKee of the town of Farmington and their children, Jennifer (John) Broughton, Jill (Tim) Kleiber, Michael (Katie) McKee and Jackie (Jake) Hugunin; Gary (Carol) Bauer of Mukwonago and their children, Stephanie (Daniel) Nottling, Greg (Amanda) Bauer and Andrew Bauer; Kay (Daniel) Butzke of Campbellsport and their children, Matthew, Adrienne and Samantha; Ken (Valerie) Bauer of Neosho and their children, Ashley Hollowell, Lauren (Stetson) Schmitt, Heather and Bryanna Bauer; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Anne) Bauer of Mayville, two sisters-in-law, Betty Bauer of LeRoy and Helen Bauer of Fond du Lac; a brother-in-law, David (Karen) Patoka of North Carolina; three god children, Dean Bauer of Brownsville, Terry Patoka of North Carolina, and Judy Bauer of Mayville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Roger was preceded in death by, two brothers, Edgar Bauer, Felix Bauer; two sisters, Ruth (Clarence) Ruhland and Lyra (Neal) Straub; his parents-in-law, Florian and Joan Patoka.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Roger will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath will officiate and burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Kewaskum.

Roger’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of Mass.
