The Lord in His Abundant mercy sent His angel to carry home the soul of the Rev. George A. Mumm on Friday, April 15, 2016.
He was born on August 20, 1925 in Lindy, NE, the son of the late Hans and Ida (nee Hansen) Mumm and on July 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Pauline Meyer in Chattanooga, TN. Pauline preceded George in death on November 29, 2014.
The Rev. George A. Mumm was ordained into Holy Ministry on June 12, 1955, at St. Martins Lutheran Church of What Cheer, Iowa which he served together with Calvary Lutheran Church of Deep River and Grace Lutheran Church of Montezuma. In June of 1957 he was installed as Pastor of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Wausau where he served until 1966. Then in October of 1966 the Rev. George A. Mumm was installed at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend where he served for 39 years.
Those the Rev. George A. Mumm leaves behind to cherish his memory include three sons, the Rev. David (Kathy) Mumm of Machesney Park, IL, Timothy Mumm of Whitewater and James (Sharon) Mumm of Glendale; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Rev. Arthur) Werzner, Nathaniel (Erin) Mumm, Naomi (Scott) MacDonald, BJ (Amy) Mumm, Rebekah (Travis) Roehl, Anna Mumm, Ruth Mumm and Julia Mumm; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Werzner, Austin Mumm, Clay Mumm, Sean Mumm and Eli Mumm; a sister-in-law, Rachel Mumm of Bloomfield, NE, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife of 62 years Pauline, the Rev. George A Mumm was preceded in death by a son, Mark Mumm and six siblings, Dr. Harry (Jean) Mumm, Clarence (Ada) Mumm, Alvin (Vernelle) Mumm, Aaron Mumm, Irene (Elmer) Gieselman and Lyle Mumm.
A Funeral Service for the Rev. George A. Mumm will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave., in West Bend, with entombment following at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
The Mumm family will greet relatives and friends on Friday at the Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., in West Bend, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the George and Pauline Mumm Scholarship or St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated.
