Jan. 27, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Rev. David K. Rockrohr, 81, of West Bend, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.
He was born on August 10, 1935 to the late Edwin and Erna (nee Rosenberg) Rockrohr in Milwaukee WI. He grew up in Waterford. He graduated from Luther College in Iowa, where he met Jane. David honorable served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957. After service, he went to Springfield Seminary.
On July 18, 1959, he was united in marriage to Jane Spersrud in Evansville, WI. David was a pastor at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee for 28 years and was an active member of Concordia Pastoral Conference for 20 years. He enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers. David and Jane traveled to Turkey, Greece, and many other places. He always had a smile on his face. In retirement, they moved to West Bend. David and Jane raised four sons and was a dedicated husband and father.
Those David leaves behind to cherish his memories includes his loving wife of 57 years, Jane Rockrohr; four sons, Rev. Dr. Carl (Dr. Deborah) Rockrohr; Tim Rockrohr; Peter Rockrohr; and Daniel (Barb) Rockrohr; nine grandchildren, Rev. Paul (Stacy) Rockrohr, Capt. James (Megan) Rockrohr, Deaconess Rebecca (Rev. Scott) Johnson; Theodore Rockrohr; Peter Rockrohr, Marissa (Sgt. Rod) Wilkins, Maggie Rockrohr, Joshua Rockrohr, and Josiah Rockrohr; nine great-grandchildren, Andrew Rockrohr, Philip Rockrohr, Eli Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Ezekial Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Malorie Wilkins, Max Wilkins, and Ella Wilkins; a sister-in-law, Carol Darrington; a brother-in-law, Dean Spersrud; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Rockrohr; a brother, James Rockrohr; and a brother-in-law, Rev Don (Ellie) Schmidt.
A funeral service in remembrance of David will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, 462 Meadowbrook Dr., West Bend, Wi with luncheon immediately following. Burial will be 2:30 p.m.at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 6400 Burleigh St., Milwaukee.
The family will greet family and friends at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
