Jan. 14, 2017 – Hartford, WI – Peter Michael Valentine Rich came into this world on August 5, 1982, the oldest son of Roger Wm. and Lynda S. Rich. Peter lived a very full life despite his long struggle with asthma, breathing his final breath on December 23, 2016 in Florianopolis, Brazil at the age of 34. He had lived on this coastal island so happily for about the past 2 years. Peter has two loving brothers: Marshall (wife Simona, son Michael) and Patrick. He will be greatly missed by loving grandparents Donald and Elouise Schaller, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends spread throughout the states and abroad.
Peter graduated from HUHS in 2001, where he was Sr. Class President, Prom King, member of the National Honor Society, Forensics Team, Soccer Club, Jazz, Marching and prep Band, Concert Choir, Orchestra, Drama Club, and interacting with as many people as time allowed.
Peter graduated in 2005 from Carlson School of Management in Minneapolis, MN double majoring in business and marketing. He also studied abroad in Vienna, member UM Marching Band, Alpha Kappa Phi, President & Co-Founder of Micro Finance Alliance.
He lived and worked in Minneapolis and abroad, and later in New York City before moving to Brazil, as a writer, teacher, poet, musician, and a true lover of life and humanity. Whether he was chatting life/philosophy/religion, playing jazz music, sharing coffee, journeys, experiences, and himself, he did not just pass through life.
The greatness of his reach; the way he left such deep imprints everywhere he walked, how he touched so many each and every place he lived, visited, played music in, traveled through, danced in, sang about, got silly in – he made so many smile and laugh. Peter had a purity of vision and compassion of heart and tenderness of ALL who crossed his path in life, being fully present in each moment with love in his very soul. The world will miss you Peter.
A Celebration of Peter’s life will be held February 11, 2017 with a visitation from 10:00 – 1:00 at the Shimon Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at the Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford.
