Nov. 3, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Paul P. “Porky” Gundrum Jr., 81, of West Bend, entered eternal life on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend.
Paul was born on March 20, 1936, in Allenton, the son of the late Paul and Anna (nee Marion) Gundrum, and on September 17, 1983, he was united in marriage to Carole Mueller at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend.
Paul was a graduate of West Bend High School and served in the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd Division from 1961 until 1962. He worked at Weasler Engineering for 44 years starting as an engineer and finally a product designer before he retired. In his retirement Paul enjoyed woodworking at his workshop at home. He was especially proud of his cabinetry, roll top cherry desk, and library.
Those Paul leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 34 years, Carole; three daughters, Tracy (Fred) Meyer of West Bend, Cindy (Randy) Wergin of West Bend, and Sherry (Marc) Mikkelson of Howards Grove; 10 grandchildren, Samantha (Clint) Fettig, Maxwell Meyer, Jill Meyer, Patrick (fiancé Courtney) Meyer, Abby Wergin, Wyatt Wergin, Holly Wergin, Ethan (Brittany) Mikkelson, Trevor Mikkelson (Kristin), and Bethany Mikkelson; five great-grandchildren, Tanner, Annabelle, Lilyann, Andrew, and Eden; a sister, Ruth Nennig; many grand pets, especially Dagger, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emily Wergin; three brothers, Wilbur (Mercia) Gundrum, Harvey (Lois) Gundrum, and Wally (Helen) Gundrum; three sisters, Esther (Norbert) Hartmann, LaVerne (Steve) Ames, and Mary (Bruce) McCray, and a brother-in-law, Rudy Nennig.
A Memorial Mass for Paul will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 N 8th Ave., in West Bend, with Rev. Patrick Heppe officiating.
The Gundrum family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass.
