Marvin F. Zarling, age 81 of Hartford entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend.
He was born on November 28, 1934 in Rockfield, WI to Hugo and Elsie (nee Kuells) Zarling. He was united in marriage to Marlene Simon on October 6, 1956 at Holy Hill.
Marvin served in the National Guard for 7 years. He was a truck driver for Broan Manufacturing Co. in Hartford for 26 years. For many years following his retirement, he drove part-time for Time Trucking in Hartford. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman and bagged his share of deer and turkey over the years. He co-founded and was past president of the Hill and Gully Snowmobile Club. He was an active participant of the Dusty Trails ATV Club in Mountain, WI. He loved his old cars and was active in the Kettle Moraine Vintage Car Club. He was an avid sports fan, including stockcar racing; both NASCAR and the Slinger racetrack. Backing the Packers was a Sunday priority. In addition, he spent many years donning his own red and white suit at Christmas time as Santa’s helper for family, friends and Broan Mfg. Marvin was a people person. He loved being around people and was always there with time and talents to help out anyone that needed a hand.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife; Marlene, his beloved children; Cheryl (Ken) Werner of Hartford and Terry (Beate) Zarling of Miami, FL, proud grandpa of Sarah Rose, Austin and Miles, his brothers; Elroy Zarling of Woodruff and Harold (Mary) Zarling of West Bend. He is further survived by many other loved relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Audrey, his brother Gerhard (Maryanne), and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Zarling.
Mass of Resurrection for Marvin will be held Wednesday, December 23rd, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at the Basilica of Holy Hill-National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians St. Therese Chapel (lower chapel) (1525 Carmel Road, Hubertus, WI 53033) with the Rev. Fr. Fred Alexander, OCD officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 23rd prior to Mass from 10:00a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Interment St. Mary of the Hill Cemetery.
