Lucille was born on April 3, 1921 in the town of Theresa, WI to the late Edwin and Martha (nee Thews) Christian. She was baptized April 10, 1921 at Hochhein Emmanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor Thusius and confirmed in the Christian faith on June 23, 1935 at Emmanual Lutheran River Church by Rev. H.H. Laabs.
Her confirmation sponsors were: Roselina Christian, Frieda Quant, and Martin Christian and her confirmation verse was: “But he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” Rev. H. H. Laabs united her in marriage to Ervin R. Troeller on June 6, 1942.
Lucille was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford, WI where she was also a member of their Mission Society, served as a greeter, sang in the choir, and helped with the church and school mailings. After retiring with her husband in 1983, she took care of her aging mother at her home for almost 2 years until her death. Lucille then enjoyed retirement and was involved with volunteer work at the Hartford hospital and also delivered Meals-on-Wheels with Erwin for many years.
She also volunteered at thrift shops in Bethesda and Milwaukee. After 55 years of a wonderful marriage, Erwin passed away September 29, 1997. Lucille enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening, traveling and visiting friends in nursing homes. She will always be remembered for: her devotion to family and grandchildren, her joy in helping others, being a great friend, and her willingness to take on the smallest or largest task.
