April 10, 2017 – Town of Barton, WI – Lucille Sheski (Slabosheski), nee Jackowski, died Monday, April 10, 2017 at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport at the age of 101. She was born October 23, 1915, in the Town of Princeton, Green Lake County, Wisconsin, to the late Frank and Mary (Rogalinski) Jackowski. Following her graduation from Princeton High School, she attended Green Lake County Normal and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and taught in Green Lake County schools for six years prior to her marriage.
On August 11, 1942, she married Harry Sheski (Slabosheski) at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Princeton. They lived in Lomira, Wisconsin, where she and her husband both taught and he was the high school principal from 1942 until he became Washington County Superintendent of Schools in 1948, when they moved to Slinger, Wisconsin.
In 1955 they bought the home in the Town of Barton, Wisconsin, where she continued to reside until moving in 2010 to Ivy Manor, a community-based Assisted Living Facility for Seniors, in Campbellsport, Wisconsin. They attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church, West Bend (Barton), Wisconsin, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers Society for many years.
A devoted homemaker and avid cook, she was a loving mother to 8 children: Mary Thompson (Michael Fingerhut), Fond du Lac; Tom (Kay) Sheski, Byron, Minnesota; Ann Rybolt, Knightstown, Indiana; Rita Wood, Santa Fe, New Mexico; John Sheski (Cathy Donaldson), Madison; Harry (Joan) Sheski, Grants, New Mexico; Steve Sheski, Madison; and Frank Sheski, Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the devoted grandmother to 4 grandchildren: Jennifer Sheski (friend Eric Tarsi), Appleton; John (Alishia) Sheski, Rochester, Minnesota; David Sheski, Los Angeles, California; and Rick Sheski (friend Nicole Stout) Los Angeles, California. She was the devoted great-grandmother to Davis, son of John and Alishia Sheski, Rochester, Minnesota. Preceding her in death were: her husband, Harry; her sister Dolores Dalka; her brother-in-law Benjamin Dalka; her brother, Donald Jackowski, her sister-in-law Jean Jackowski; two sons-in-law, Jerry Wood and Bill Hunter; and other in-laws, including two nephews-in-law Jim Kasuboski and Bob Zellmer.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 629 Cedar Street, West Bend, Wisconsin, on Friday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m., with burial of the cremains at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Princeton, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Harry & Lucille Sheski Scholarship Fund c/o Washington County Campus Foundation (WCCF), 400 University Drive, West Bend, WI 53095, or a charity of one’s choice.
