Kristine Ann Janson-Farley (nee Holoubek), 73, passed away at home on July 21,2016, surrounded by her loving family, after fighting her long, courageous battle with cancer. Kris was born on June 11, 1943, to the late Walter and Bernadine Holoubek. At the time of her birth, her father, Wally was serving overseas in the United States Army during World War II. She first met her father at age three when he returned home.

Kris grew up living at her parents’ resort, Wally and Bee’s, located on Friess Lake. She had two younger sisters, Kathy and Ann. She excelled in her education, skipping a grade in the elementary school and graduated with high honors from Hartford High School. After graduating, she began her studies at Carroll College, and then attended the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. Kris pursued the career of elementary education and met her husband, Ken while attending there.  On June 6, 1964, Kris and Ken Janson married at Holy Hill and moved to Texas. Later, moving to Iowa where she began her teaching career, and then to Kansas, where they had two girls, Kandi and Kristy. When her husband, Ken, passed away at the age of 34, she moved back to Wisconsin to be near family.

Since her girls were very young, she began substitute teaching and then went on to teach at Plat Elementary School and later Erin Elementary School. Kris touched the lives of many students over the years. After raising her girls, she met her current husband, Pat Farley, and they were married on October 25, 1991 at Holy Hill. Kris’ family grew in size and love with the addition of Pat’s two daughters, Michelle and Kristine. They were later blessed with eleven grandchildren, which she adored.

Kris’ hobbies included stamping (especially with her dear friend, Sue), gardening, playing board games with the family, being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and occasional escapes to the casino. One of her favorite places to go when visiting the family cabin was Bond Falls located in the U.P. of Michigan. She cherished her family and tried to attend every event her grandchildren were part of.

She is survived by her loving husband Patrick Farley, her loving children, Michelle (Rod) Kolash of DePere, Kandi (Rick) Frederick of Jackson, Kris (Paul) Armitage of Germantown and Kristy Hager of Omro, 10 grandchildren, Brock, Larissa, Derick, Karly, Quinn, Kyle, Ross, Parker, Amber and Brady, her sisters, Kathleen Januchowski and Ann (David) Palmer. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other loved relatives and friends.

Prior to her passing, Pat and Kris were able to renew their wedding vows to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary a few months early.  A special thank you to Dr. Heyrman, Dr. Hari and Dr. Rader and the entire Froedtert staff as well as the Horizon Hospice Care staff for the wonderful care. As well, as Father Tim, who called Kris every week to sing to her.

Her insurmountable strength and courage were evident while battling her twelve years of cancer treatments. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Gabriel Parish for masses. Otherwise, donations can be made in her honor to the American Legion Post 522 or the American Cancer Society.
