Obit: Irene M. Carini, nee Shurpit, 83, of Theresa

Nov. 7, 2017 – Theresa, WI – Irene M. Carini, nee Shurpit, 83, of Theresa, joined her parents and family in Heaven on Friday, November 3, 2017.

She was born on June 20, 1934 in Neshkoro to the late Andrew and Peggy (nee Sobralske) Shurpit. She was united in marriage to John Carini on January 8, 1955 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple lived in Milwaukee until 1967 when they moved and built a home in Jackson. In 1992 they moved to Florida where they lived for ten years before returning to Wisconsin to live in Princeton. They have lived in Theresa for the past four years.

After high school, Irene attended Marquette University in Milwaukee to pursue a career in nursing. Before marriage, Irene worked as a model for Gimbels Department Store and Boston Store. She attended school for floral design and worked as a freelance designer. She also worked as Personnel Director at National Foods in Milwaukee and then as a receptionist and later as a cashier at the Cash N Carry store in West Bend.

Irene loved music and dancing and she enjoyed playing the accordion. She also enjoyed bowling and she served as President of the West Bend Women’s Bowling Association.

Irene dedicated much of her time as the caregiver for her mother, sister, brother and nephew.

She loved family traditions and especially enjoyed cooking Italian food.

She was a devoted Catholic and was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton and St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Slinger.

Those Irene leaves to cherish her memory include her husband, John; three children, Peggy Ann (Doug) Morrissey, Andrew (Randy Greunke) Carini, and Albert (Jill) Carini; six grandchildren, Kira Johnson, Alyssa Heinz, Lauren Morrissey, Stephanie Czarnecki, John Carini, and Zachary Carini; three great-grandchildren, Kane Heinz, Cynthia Czarnecki, Oliver Czarnecki, Riley Johnson, and Shaylee Johnson; a sister-in-law, Josephine (Paul) Tetzlaff; a brother-in-law, Dominic (Barbara) Carini; her “Earth Angel” Patsy Illgen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy (Calvin) O’Boyle and Violet (Michael) Gerhardt; and two brothers, Victor (Eugenia) Shurpit and Kenneth (Jenny) Shurpit.

A Memorial Mass in remembrance of Irene will be held on Monday, November 13 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1211 W. Main St., Princeton, WI. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
