Glendon Charles Abel, age 90, of West Bend, entered eternal life on June 18, 2016.
Glen was born on December 22, 1925 in the town of Forest to the late Herbert and Florence (nee Balthazor) Abel. During WWII, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy and later married Ursula Thull on September 25, 1946 at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. He was a Journeyman Electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 494. Glen loved to spend time at his cottage up north and enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage.
Glen is survived by his wife, Ursula; eight children, Russell (Mary R.) Abel, Barbara Johnston, Paul (friend Kathy) Abel, Diane Abel, Michael (Mary B.) Abel, Beverly (Jeff) Kenkel, Kathleen Abel, and Randall (Robin) Abel; 14 grandchildren, Corey, Tara, Brett, Laura, Mark, Carrie, Robyn, Rachel, Ryan, Ashley, Jordanne, Kelvin, Mitchell, and Arianna; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Krayjewski; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his sister Lucine Alfke.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Holy Angels Catholic Church (138 N. 8th Ave. West Bend). The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at the church from 3:00 pm until the time of Mass at 6:00 pm. Burial of Glen’s cremated remains will take place in Washington County Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Horizon Hospice for their care and compassion.
