Obit: Fred J. Gauthier, 71, of West Bend

July 19, 2018 – West Bend, WI – Fred J. Gauthier, 71, of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.

Fred was born on April 2, 1947, the son of the late Frederick and Geraldine (nee Else) Gauthier. On May 2, 1970, he was united in marriage to Lynn Wick at St. Anne Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycling, collecting cars and Packers memorabilia. He belonged to numerous car clubs and had trophies for his truck that he built with his son, Paul, who passed away July 21, 2006.

Fred belonged to Matt Kenseth’s fan club and was proud to have built a replica of Matt Kenseth’s car that he entered in a car show and was mentioned in their town’s local newspaper.

From 1968 to 1992, Fred worked for the Local 139 as an operating engineer, traveling to different towns.

Fred received a citizen award from the Jackson Fire Department for saving a man’s life on January 4, 2018; he also received an award from Badger Firefighters Association.

 

Those Fred leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Lynn; a daughter, Connie Gauthier; two grandchildren, Summer Gauthier and Collin Wendorf; three brothers, David Gauthier, Steve (Cathy) Gauthier, and Danny Gauthier; a sister, Diane Highchair; a brother-in-law, Hal Kennedy; a sister-in-law, Mary Gauthier; other relatives and friends.

 

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a son, Paul Gauthier; a brother, Alan Gauthier; a sister, Kay Kennedy and a sister-in-law, Janice Gauthier.

 

A graveside service for Fred will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 10700 W Capitol Drive, in Milwaukee.

 

Fred’s family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday at the Pinelawn Memorial Park Chapel from noon until 2 p.m.

 

The Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral Home have been entrusted with Fred’s arrangements.
