Feb. 22, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Eugene “Geno” G. Dricken, 78, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Froedtert Hospital.
Geno was born on June 16, 1938 to Lawrence and Olive (nee Ritger) Dricken in the Town of Barton and raised in West Bend. He married Kathryn (nee Melhorn) on May 27, 1990 in Jackson and was employed Gehl Company and later Maysteel until his retirement.
After retirement, he also worked part-time at Pick n Save North. Geno enjoyed fishing at his favorite spot “Thunder Bay” in Phelps, gardening, cooking his favorite things such as chicken dumpling soup, cheesecake, potato salad and stuffing.
He also made many flavors of wine that he would pick his own cherries in Door County. Geno watched every televised Brewer’s game along with attending spring training in AZ.
Many things he enjoyed included going to the movies with Kathy, playing cards (especially Sequence with friends), coupon clipping, watching the weather and gas prices rise, riding his Harley motorcycle, snow plowing with his 8N tractor, turtle hunting up north, cutting and splitting wood for campfires and making animal sounds at the campfires. But most of all he loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports. Member of Knights of Columbus Council #1964 .
Geno is survived by his wife Kathryn “Kathy”, daughters Wendy (Kirk) Herriges, Ginger (Kenneth Jr.) Laufer, step-sons Kevin (Kris) Laufer and Kirk (Amy) Laufer. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Brett, Kayla and Dylan Laufer, Zachary and Amber Herriges, Jack, Annika and Sarah Laufer, Brooke Goodland, brother Roy (Judy) Dricken, sister-in-law Nancy (Donald) Huybers, nephews: Daniel Dricken, Tim Huybers, Dan (Katie) Huybers, great-nephew Ben Huybers, many, many close family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents and nephew Randal Dricken.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6 pm on Monday, February 27, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (4886 Hwy 175, Hartford, WI 53027) with Father Davies Edassery presiding. Interment will take place at St. Mathias Cemetery in Nabob. Visitation will be at the CHURCH ONLY on Monday, February 27 from 3:00 pm until time of Mass (6:00 pm).
