July 6, 2017 – Jackson, WI – Duane M. Toennes of Jackson died on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at his home with his beloved wife of 41 years, Pat, by his side at the age of 79 years. He was born on October 27, 1937 in Milwaukee to the late Marvin and Grace (nee Gittens) Toennes.
After graduating from high school, he attended Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm, MN. He then served with the United States Army from 1960 until his discharge in 1966. For more than 30 years, he was employed at AT&T. Throughout his life, he was an avid model railroader.
On January 2, 1976, he was united in marriage to Patricia K. Merten in Milwaukee.
Survivors include his wife Pat; a sister Judith (Richard) Kurth; a brother James (Sheryl) Toennes; a sister-in-law Leslie (William) Cox; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A gathering for family and friends will be on Sunday, July 9 from 3:30 until 4:45 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. with Rev. RaeAnn Beebe officiating.
