Obit: Donna Hanke, 69, of Lomira

May 13, 2017 – Lomira, WI – Donna M. Hanke, 69, of Lomira, was called home to be with God on Thursday, May 11, 2017, while at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 23, 1947, in Knowles, the daughter of the late Armond “Jack” and Monica (nee Weber) Adelmeyer and on June 10, 1967, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Hanke at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy.

Donna was very involved in her church and community.  She was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira where she was a past parish council member, decorating committee member, CCD teacher, and lay minister to mention a few.  Donna helped at the local voting polls, food pantry, and was active in the American Red Cross Blood drives.  She also was a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years.

 

Donna loved to spend time with her family and friends.  She was a very devoted stay at home “Mimi” and made it to as many of her grandchildren’s events as possible.   Mimi always made sure that specific types of ice cream for her grandchildren were in the freezer.

Donna enjoyed her early morning walks with her sisters for 30 plus years and summer camping trips to Kohler-Andrae State Park.

She and Lloyd also enjoyed traveling together, her favorite trip being the pilgrimage to Italy and Rome with Bishop Hying.  In her free time she liked tending to her rock/flower gardens, collecting angels, sewing, knitting, crocheting baby blankets, prayer shawls, and searching for the perfect pair of socks for others.  Donna enjoyed giving them to family and friends.

Those Donna leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 50 years, Lloyd; three children, Trevor (Karin) Hanke of Ripon, Thad (Heidi) Hanke of Winneconne, and Troy (Traci) Hanke of Theresa; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Abigail, and Alex Hanke, Isabella, Gwendolyn, and Emmeric Hanke and Matthew, Makenna, and Marshall Hanke; 10 siblings, Kathleen (John) Roth, Stan Adelmeyer, Bonnie (Roger) Karlin, Ron (Inge) Adelmeyer, Jane (Ralph) Langenecker, Ruth (Tom) Mischo, Mark (Darlene) Adelmeyer, Beattle Adelmeyer, Renee (Mike) Batzler, and Pam (Dale) Schwartz; seven sisters-in-law, Wanda Schuh, Sylvia (Delmar) Petri, Eunice Scheberl, Rosemary “Mimi” Washick, Roseanne Polkavich, Angie (Howie) Scheberl, and Darlene Bauer; two brothers-in-law, Eugene (Bernice) Hanke and Dave Hanke, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce (Bob) Staerzl and Gwen Adelmeyer; a brother, Richard Adelmeyer; a sister-in-law, Violet Hanke; six brothers-in-law, Merlin “Buddy” Hanke, Gene Schuh, Richie Scheberl, Ray Polkavich, Art Washick, and Dennis Bauer and her parents-in-law, William and Rose Hanke.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donna will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira. Rev. Michael Peterson will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

The Hanke family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity or organization of your choice in Donna’s memory are appreciated.

The Hanke family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the family and friends who supported them.

The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Donna’s arrangements.

    I’m so sorry for your loss of Donna. Reading her obituary amazed me. She was so active and gave so much of herself. She will always be with you and you will meet again.
