Obit: Diana Schmit, 73, Jackson

Diana M. Schmit (nee Hollnagel) age 73 of Jackson died Tuesday, January 12, 2016. She was born December 29, 1942 to the late Ruben and Sally (nee Jacque) Hollnagel and married Thomas N. Schmit on February 8, 1964 in Mequon. Tom preceded her in death on June 5, 2012.

Diana worked at TC Esser where she met her future husband, Tom. She was a loving mother who raised 3 sons. After her children were grown she worked for Gemini as a caregiver and companion. She loved being outdoors, especially spending time in her garden.

For the past 25 years Diana has valiantly battled MS. Her family is very appreciative to the caregivers who assisted her.

Diana is survived by her 2 children, Rodger (Jeanne) of West Bend and Randal (Robin) of Junction City, WI, 2 grandchildren Ruben and Stella and her loving and loyal companion Chloe, her teddy bear dog. She is further survived by her brother Bob (Sharon) Hollnagel of Cedarburg, 4 sisters-in-law: Clara (Fred) Shanen of Friendship, Joanne Schmit of Saukville, Helen “Patsy” Schmit of Waubeka and Genevieve Schmit of Kansas City, MO and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ruben and Sally Hollnagel, her husband Tom and her son Rodney.

A Mass of Christin Burial will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Goldendale with Rev. Bernie Sippel presiding. Burial will take place in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Mequon. The family will greet visitors on Friday, January 15th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson and also Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Memorials to St. Boniface Church are appreciated.
