Jan. 5, 2018 – Jackson, WI – Delores E. Popp, nee Scheunemann of West Bend died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at The Kathy Hospice at the age of 90 years. She was born on October 1, 1927 in Milwaukee to the late Walter and Meta (nee Tetzlaff) Scheunemann. As a child, the family moved to Okauchee Lake where she grew up.
On June 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Howard E. Popp in Milwaukee. The couple lived on Okauchee Lake for 11 years before moving to Milwaukee. While in Milwaukee, she worked as a waitress for Jimmy’s Grill. After Howard’s retirement, they moved to their cabin in Amberg. Together, they enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. In 1997, they moved to Marinette and since 2011 has called West Bend home.
Delores enjoyed traveling with family. She and Howard made frequent trips to New York and Connecticut to visit family, and spent their winters in Las Vegas and Arizona. Above all else, they loved spending time with their grandchildren. They traveled throughout the area, including Mackinaw, MI, the upper peninsula of Michigan, and Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
Survivors include 2 children Beverly Wilch of Marinette and Kathleen (Robert) Fox of Jackson; 3 grandchildren Travis Wilch, Jamie (Nick) Budiac and Crystal Fox; 6 great-grandchildren Shelton, Jaylen and Amari Johnson, Nathan and Marissa Budiac and Tahkayden Wright; 1 brother-in-law Donald (Musette) Popp of Hartland; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard on October 26, 2016, a son-in-law Randy Wilch, 3 brothers and their wives Leroy (Chris), Gordon (Helen) and Howard (Agnes) Scheunemann and 1 sister Laverne (Vern) Taschner.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 9 at 4 p.m. at Morning Star Evangelical Lutheran Church, N171 W20131 Highland Rd, Jackson, with Pastor Charles Raasch officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 2 until 3:45 p.m.
The family has requested memorials to The Kathy Hospice.
