Sept. 17, 2017 – Kewaskum, WI – David J. Skrentny, age 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2017, after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer. He was born in Milwaukee on October 7, 1943 to Raymond and Ann (nee Felden) Skrentny.
The family moved to Kewaskum when he was three years old and called Kewaskum home. David graduated from Kewaskum High School Class of 1963.
David married Claudia (Oppermann) in 1964 and they had three wonderful children.
David loved music and was part of the band The Blue Echoes that was started in 1960 and continued into the 1970’s. They recorded an original single in 1963 called, “Moonride.” In 1967, he opened Dave’s Music Center, which he later sold in 1979. After a brief period of traveling with his family, David settled back in the area and operated the Frontier Bowl & Lounge in West Bend, WI.
David enjoyed coin collecting, traveling, taking Sunday afternoon drives and most of all, entertaining others. He loved to laugh and have fun, whether it be shenanigans with his brothers or just a good practical joke! His smile was contagious! David was very charming and could sell ice to an Eskimo!
David is survived by his children; Brian (Angie), Regina (James) Griesbach, Candice (Carl) Bartoli; stepchildren; Lisa Calvino and Mike Jones. Grandchildren; Chloe and Lucas Skrentny, Jacob (Lilian), Josiah (Kyle), Isaiah, Samuel, Moriah, and Judah Griesbach, Jade, Sophia and Michael Bartoli. Step grandchildren, William, Rebecca and Benjamin Calvino. Sarah and Brian Jones; Great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Elizabeth and Abigail Griesbach; His brothers, Barney (Julia) of England, Raymond (Chris) of New Berlin and Jerome of West Bend; Sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Sandra of Kewaskum. His former spouse Claudia Skrentny, former spouse Marion.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas and Robert.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 17,2017 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church (462 Meadowbrook Drive, West Bend) Visitation will be from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. with a service following.
