Obit: Daniel J. Schladweiler, 72, West Bend

Daniel J. Schladweiler, 72, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.

Daniel was born on February 6, 1944, in Macon, Georgia, the son of the late Arnold and Marie “Mary” (Riley) Schladweiler. On November 15, 1975, he was united in marriage to Carol Woebbeking at Grace Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls.

Daniel was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend. He retired from Briggs and Stratton as a die designer. Daniel loved the Packers, trap shooting at West Bend/Barton Sportsmans Club, photography, his dogs, and above all else, his family. Daniel and his family loved vacationing in the Wisconsin Dells.

Those Daniel leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol; four children, Timothy (Bonnie) Schladweiler and Lisa (Mike) Knoeck both of West Bend, James Balzer of Appleton and David (Sara) Balzer of Random Lake; seven grandchildren, Brenna Schladweiler (Fiancé, Will Knox) and Lauren Schladweiler, Morgan and Evan Balzer, Camryn and Owen Knoeck and Dakota (Emily) Calbaum; a great grandson, Ryan Calbaum; a brother, Robert (Geri) Schladweiler; two sisters, Patricia (Larry) Beal and Nancy (Larry) Krahn; two brothers-in-law, Harvey (Carla) Woebbeking and Gary (Dawn) Woebbeking; a sister-in-law, Judy (Tom) Shelby; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Otto and Cleone Woebbeking.

Funeral services for Daniel will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend with Rev. Jeff Dorth officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Washington County Memorial Park.

Daniel’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.

The Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Daniel’s arrangements.

  1. So sorry about Dans passing,I worked with Dan for many years at Briggs and Stratton.
    Sure was a great guy,always willing to help out.May God his family peace.

  2. Dan may you rest in peace. To Tim and all family im sorry for your loss. As kids were close, life and distance may have separated us but the love and memories are never lost. Dan was my Godfather as a younger adult i would every so often have the opportunity to cross paths with Dan amd have a how you doin kinda conversation. A great man who will be sadly missed. R.I.P.
