Obit: Daniel “Dan” Katz, 82, of West Bend

Oct. 24, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Daniel “Dan” Katz, 82, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

He was born on September 4, 1935 to the late Elmer and Irma (nee Stoeck) Katz in Milwaukee. Dan graduated from Boys Tech in 1953. On June 24, 1961 he was united in marriage to Laverne Ardith Harju at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashland, WI. He proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1965

He was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in West Bend. Dan was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Lions Club, and was an active member in the Masonic Lodge. Dan spent his working years in Real Estate up until his retirement. In retirement, he enjoyed being president of his Condo Association, playing cards with his buddies, and attending his grandkids’ activities. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Those Dan leaves behind to cherish his memory include his son, Jason (Sara) Katz of West Bend; two grandchildren, Ryder and Kylee Katz; a brother, Gerald (Brigette) Katz; a brother-in-law, James Hluchnik; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Katz and a sister-in-law, Donna Hluchnik.

A funeral service in remembrance of Dan will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1044 Silverbrook Dr., West Bend.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

A special thank you from Dan’s family to the entire staff at the Froedtert NICU Facility for their heartfelt and wonderful care of their dad and grandpa.

The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Dan’s arrangements.
