Obit: Clayton Weinreich, 86, Town of Farmington. Clayton played with the “Jim Brunner Rythmaires Band” and later formed his own band “The Voyagers”

Jan. 2, 2017 – Town of Farmington, WI – Clayton C. Weinreich, 86, of the town of Farmington, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at his home.

Clayton was born on May 24, 1930 on the family farm in the town of Farmington. He attended Fillmore Grade school in Fillmore and graduated from Random Lake High School, Class of 1948. Clayton married Gladys Lauters on May 9, 1953, at St Martin’s Church in Fillmore. He proudly served his country and spent four years in the Red Arrow Division of the Army National Guard.

Clayton worked at various jobs, and spent the last 18 years of employment at K-Mart and Sears Grand which he enjoyed very much, retiring at the age of 80.

Clayton started his music career as a child, traveling with the Hecker cousins, entertaining at picnics, fairs, and other venues. He was known to play the part as little Genevieve.  Music was an important part of his life, playing with the “Jim Brunner Rythmaires Band” for many years and later formed his own band “The Voyagers”.

Clayton served on St. Martin’s Church Council as President for many years and other positions on the council till his death.   He also served as the children’s choir director, Sunday School superintendent, and sang in the church choir.

He enjoyed traveling, taking two vacations along with Gladys to Europe, taking many motorcycle trips around the United States, including two trips to Sturgis for the annual “Rally Week”.  He also enjoyed Thursday night family “get togethers” with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Those he leaves behind are his wife, Gladys of 63 years; seven children, Kim (Sharon) Weinreich, Kory (Sue) Weinreich, Kaye (Donna Samuels) Weinreich, Keri (Dave) Donath, Kara (Jack) Knott, Kalee (Rodney) Krahn, and Keane Weinreich; 16 grandchildren; 15 plus two coming great grandchildren; a brother Vernon; brothers-in-law, Ronald, Jim (Joanne), Dan (Helen); sister-in law, Irene (Leroy) Gnacinski, his little companion – Gabby the noisy Dachshund, many other relatives and friends.

Clayton is preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Veronica Weinreich; parents-in-law, Louis and Margaret Lauters; a daughter Karla Jean; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia & Clem Birenbaum and sister-in-law, Lola Weinreich.

A funeral service for Clayton will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017, at St. Martin’s United Church of Christ. Dan Noenning will officiate and burial will follow in St. Martin’s Union Cemetery.

Clayton’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at church on Friday from Noon until the time of service.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rajish Trivedi, Seasons Hospice Care, – especially Ben, Hannah, Shelby and Todd for their care and all others who helped and visited in any way.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.

The Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Clayton’s arrangements.
