Obit: Charles “Charlie” J. Rommel, 74

Dec. 27, 2016 – West Bend, WI- Charles “Charlie” J. Rommel, age 74, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his home.  He was born on September 10, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI to Arthur and Grace (nee Wolf) Rommel.  Charlie was in the U.S. Army.  He married Corinne Walentoski on December 21, 1965.  Charlie worked at Harnischfeger for 33 years. After retirement, worked at Fleet Farm, Finish Master and Napa, where he enjoyed the many people he met along the way.

He loved drag racing, World of Outlaws, Open-wheel Sprint racing, classic car shows, breakfast at Sandy’s or Hankerson’s, spending time with family and friends, old TV western shows, and also loved Sheepshead, Cribbage and good jokes.

He is survived by his wife, Corinne; children Robin Gavin, Denise (Bill Spiropoulos) Noel, and Jim; grandchildren CJ, Devin, Jakub, Haley; brothers Dennis Rommel and Duane (Sue) Rommel.  He is further survived by a nephew Todd (Marilen) Rommel, a niece Pamela (Tony) Pietrangelo, other relatives and friends.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Mary Jo Rommel, niece and Goddaughter Katie Rommel Blair.

A Memorial Service will be at 6:30PM on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend, WI 53095).  Visitation will be from 4:00PM until the time of the service (6:30PM).  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would be appreciated.
