A new sign is now in place for the weekly Allenton Farmers’ Market.
Renae Honey Danielson was excited to point out the new sign has the correct hours for the market, Tuesday’s from 3 p.m – 6 p.m.
The owner of Biggie and Bubba’s Busy Bees had jams and salsa for sale along with some jewelry made by her youngest daughter. Renae said she has started making three kinds of pickles, Bread and Butter, dill, and spicy pickles, plus dilly beans and pickled beets. She said they have to sit about six weeks before they are ready, so look for them in about a month. Honey should be ready in a few weeks.
It was Ray Schmidt’s first appearance at the market this year and he came armed with apples. Schmidt will have more varieties of apples, apple juice, potatoes, squash, tomatoes, and beets in a few weeks.
Schmidt said his vegetables just aren’t ready yet, nor are his other varieties of apples. Ray also does the Hartford Farmers Market. But he only comes to the markets when he has apples. He’s expecting a return trip by the end of August.
