June 30, 2018 – Mayville, WI – The Village of Jackson will soon be receiving a new Chief of Police.
Ryan Vossekull, who currently serves as Chief of Police in Mayville, WI, has officially sent his resignation in as of Thursday last week in order to fill the position in the Village of Jackson. His last day as Mayville Chief of Police will be July 12:
“It has been an honor to serve as a police officer in my hometown. I’m grateful for the many opportunities that have been presented to me since I joined the department as a police cadet 20 yers ago. I’m also grateful to the police and fire commission and members of the community that supported me and my appointment to the office of police chief in Mayville.
When I accepted the PFC appointment to become the police chief in Mayville, I never expected I would be leaving so soon. At this time, I believe this is best for me and my family.”
The Village of Jackson offered the job of Chief of Police to Vossekuil earlier in June.
He has been in charge of the Mayville Police Department since February of 2017, when then Chief Christopher MacNeill was placed on administrative leave following a search warrant being served on the City of Mayville and its police department.
Vossekuil was named interim Chief in March of 2017, and had the interim tag removed that November following months of contentious contract negotiations with the city’s common council.
Lieutenant Ryan Toellner will lead the department following Vossekuil’s departure on July 12th.
The Police and Fire Commission will be tasked with formally assigning an acting chief of police until a permanent replacement is selected.
