August 5, 2024 – The West Bend Theatre, Inc is looking to install a 10’ x 12’ digitized artwork piece on the north end of the east wall of the building facing the riverwalk. The art installation is to help cover a badly marred portion of the façade at 125 N. Main Street.
The proposed artwork is by a prominent Wisconsin artist, Reginald Baylor.Â
The art installation is a vinyl print of the painting that will be mounted on a backboard and hung from the building. Artwork may be removed for cleaning/maintenance or be re-printed if damaged.
The print will have a UV protective outer film, a successful method used on outdoor pieces. Baylor has donated the rights to reproduce his original painting.
The art will have a QR code for viewers to access more information about the artist and the painting. It will also have a small, attached panel below the piece with a short description of the artist, the river inspiration and the original painting.
Gus Peter, an installation specialist, will build the frame, attach the art and hang the piece.
The site plan proposal has been sent to the Museum of Wisconsin Art and had no comments or concerns pertaining to the art installation.
The proposal for the artwork will go before the Plan Commission at the Tuesday, August 6, 2024 meeting.
Staff would recommend approval of the site plan as presented.
