August 18, 2017 – Dodge Co., WI – On August 17 at 5:16 a.m., the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash on US 151 north of Forest Rd, in the Township of Calamus, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Preliminary investigation shows that an unrelated two vehicle property damage only crash occurred in the northbound lanes of US 151 in which both vehicles came to rest in the median.
Kayla Davis, 37, from Beaver Dam, was operating a 2011 Ford Escape and stopped in the left lane of US 151 southbound to render aid.
Davis exited and walked onto the median shoulder of the highway.
Troy Kelm, 28, from Beaver Dam, was operating a 1999 Dodge Ram also southbound on US 151. Kelm swerved to avoid striking the Ford Escape and struck Davis who had become a pedestrian outside of the vehicle.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner. Kelm was uninjured in the crash.
Assisting at the scene was: Beaver Dam Fire Department, Beaver Dam Paramedics, and the Dodge County Emergency Response Team.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
