Multiple vehicle accident Sunday evening on I41

June 18, 2018 – On June 17, 2018 at approximately 8:56 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a three vehicle injury crash on Interstate 41 southbound between US Highway 45 and Holy Hill Road. Personnel from the Sheriff’s Office and Richfield Fire Department responded to the scene. Upon their arrival the occupants of the vehicles were found to have minor injuries.

The preliminary investigation showed the following: A passenger car being operated by a 39-year-old Milwaukee man was southbound on USH 45, attempting to merge to I41.

As that vehicle began to merge, it collided with a second passenger car being operated by a 34-year-old Oak Creek woman, who was also traveling south on USH 45, merging to I41. The vehicle operated by the Oak Creek woman was then pushed into the outer lane of I41, where it collided with a passenger car pulling a trailer, being operated by a 59 year old Milwaukee man.

The vehicles being operated by the 34 year old Oak Creek woman and 59 year old Milwaukee man collided with the outer guard rail of I41 and came to rest. The vehicle operated by the 39 year old Milwaukee man continued southbound and pulled the shoulder a short distance later. There were no serious injuries as a result of the crash, and none of the vehicle occupants were transported for medical care.

The outer two lanes of I41 were closed for approximately one hour for investigative, rescue, and clean-up operations. Germantown Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted with traffic direction and the initial investigation. The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this crash.
