Paul and Kathy Melius on Sherman Road in Jackson sold their 170 cow herd this week.
Paul and business partner in the dairy farm, brother Jim, are retiring after 40 years of milking cows.
They plan to rent out the land, and go put their feet in the sand.
When asked why the cows are so genuinely friendly, Paul said, “that comes from lots of handling.”
Many area farmers got some nice gentle animals thanks to Paul and Kathy and Jim Melius.
Kudos to their families and skilled farm hands, as well, for years of dedication to these fine animals.
