Because of his military experience, he was an instrumental part in the creation of the high school aviation club. The Club started two years ago but it took that long to build the RV-12 airplane finishing it at the Hartford Airport.

Over that time, a total of 21 students participated in the construction. As the club’s mentor, Murphy was excited to get the students involved in a hands-on project which is not often possible in a classroom setting.

Next year the Club will also include students from Slinger and begin a new project.

Congratulations to Mark Murphy for providing leadership to local students and getting them involved in a course of study that few students get the opportunity to participate in.
