April 15, 2024 – Washington Co., WI – On Monday morning at 11:23 a.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s office received information from a police department in the Fox Valley that a 37-year-old man was suicidal and enroute to the Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary.
The vehicle was last seen in the Oshkosh area. According to information the sheriff’s office received, the man had taken numerous medications and self-inflicted a stab wound to his abdomen. He wanted to say goodbye to his family who were there visiting the zoo.
A deputy was able to locate the vehicle on STH 28 west of Kewaskum at 11:57 a.m. Deputies were able to coordinate a traffic stop on STH 28 east of Kewaskum.
The man was taken into protective custody without incident and was transported to Froedtert Hospital in the Town of Polk due to suffering a stab wound and the suspected ingestion of drugs.
At the time of call deputies were immediately dispatched to the Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary as a precaution and remained there until the man was taken into protective custody.
The man is currently undergoing medical treatment and a mental health evaluation.
