UPDATE | Man hospitalized after falling 11 feet is Taycheedah Town Chairman | By Sheriff Ryan F. Waldschmidt

March 4, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., Wi – An update on a story from Friday, March 1, 2024, when a man fell 11 feet while working in the Township of Taycheedah, Fond du Lac County.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with Mt. Calvary Fire Department, Mt. Calvary Ambulance, and City of Fond du Lac Fire/Paramedics responded to the scene. Theda Star Medical Helicopter was also requested.

The victim in this incident is 62-year-old Joseph Thome, and he remains hospitalized in critical condition.  Thome is a staple in the Fond du Lac County agricultural community and chairman of the Town of Taycheedah.  Thome’s family provided the following statement to share with the media:

“Our husband, father and grandfather suffered critical injuries and remains hospitalized.   Joe’s exemplary loving care for his family, friends and community reaches deep in the Holyland and far beyond.   We ask for your respect and privacy as we wrap our heads and hearts around this crisis in the days and weeks to come, and we thank you for your support and prayers.”

March 1, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., Wi – On Friday, March 1, 2024, at 8:46 a.m. the Fond du Lac County Communication Center took a medical call of a male who fell 11 feet at W3388 Ledge Road in the Township of Taycheedah, Fond du Lac County.

A 62-year-old male from Fond du Lac was working at the property. He was on a second story level inside a building and fell approximately 11 feet. He was transported from the scene by Theda Star Medical Helicopter to Theda Care Reginal Medical Center- Neenah with serious injuries.
