December 13, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On December 12Â at 8:13 p.m. a Fond du Lac County Deputy observed a vehicle driving at high rate of speed on County Highway V near County Highway F in Fond du Lac County. The Deputy activated his emergency lights/sirens and attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect vehicle increased its speed and a pursuit was initiated.
The suspect vehicle then turned off its headlights and continued southbound on CTH V at a high rate of speed. Due to the vehicles speed and approaching the Village of Campbellsport the Deputy terminated the pursuit before entering the village.
Officers from the Campbellsport Police Department observed the same suspect vehicle enter the village of Campbellsport with no headlights on. The suspect vehicle continued to drive recklessly, it failed stop for stop signs, and almost caused an accident near the high school.
At this point the Campbellsport Police Department attempted to stop the vehicle for the additional violations. A second pursuit was initiated as the vehicle was now observed exiting the village on HWY 67 westbound.
Once the second pursuit was initiated, the original Deputy positioned himself as lead car on the pursuit as it was now out of the Village of Campbellsport and back into Fond du Lac County. The vehicle continued westbound on 67 towards the town of Ashford.
 Once in Ashford, the suspect vehicle went into the ditch and turned around and was now traveling eastbound on HWY 67. When the suspect went eastbound it struck the lead deputies squad car head on at lower speeds causing damage to both vehicles.
The vehicle then traveled eastbound on HWY 67 before the driver lost control of the vehicle and entered the south ditch at a high rate of speed. Once the suspect vehicle entered the ditch it rolled multiple times and struck a telephone pole temporarily causing a power outage for houses and businesses in the area.
The vehicle was over turned and came to a rest on its roof. The driver of the vehicle was compliant now however due to the position of the car after the crash he was unable to exit the vehicle on his own.
Campbellsport Fire Department and ambulance arrived on scene and assisted in extricating the driver. The driver was then transported from the scene via ambulance to a medical helicopter that staged nearby. He was then transported via helicopter to Theda hospital.
The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash. The suspects’ vehicle received major damages and one squad car was damaged during the pursuit from the first collision.
The driver was a 19-year-old male from Fond du Lac. He is being charged with 2 counts of Felony Fleeing/Eluding, possession of THC, Possession of drug paraphernalia, 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, and multiple other traffic citations.
Assisting a the scene was the Wisconsin State Patrol, Campbellsport Fire Department, Campbellsport Ambulance, City of Fond du Lac Ambulance, Thedastar helicopter, and the Fond du Lac County Highway Department.
Highway 67 was closed for approximately 4 hours while Wisconsin State Patrol reconstructed the crash and while utilities worked on restoring power to the area from the damaged telephone pole.
The first pursuit lasted approximately 3.5 miles and the second pursuit lasted approximately 6.4 miles.
