July 19, 2019 – Slinger, WI – Aidan Abbott, 14, from Slinger was on Capitol Hill this week lobbying lawmakers in support of Senator Baldwin’s (D-WI) bipartisan Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act (ELSA), as part of Ectodermal Dysplasia Advocacy Day.

Washington County Insider first reported on this story in February of 2017.

ELSA is a bipartisan bill which would ensure that all health plans cover medically-necessary services related to a patient’s congenital abnormality, including reconstructive surgeries and oral-related procedures.

Aidan was born with ectodermal dysplasia that required intense oral care from an early age. A few years ago Aidan wrote to Senator Baldwin’s office to share his story. Senator Baldwin and Aidan worked together to author the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act.

More information on the bipartisan legislation is available here.
