This game was a battle with a final score, 63-53, that does not indicate just how competitive the matchup was throughout.

Offensive runs were a huge part of each team’s agenda, with the Timberwolves opening the game on a 14-2 scoring run, before the Panthers chipped in 10 unanswered points.

This was a microcosm of the game in general; although the Timberwolves never trailed, the Panthers were determined to make a comeback, even when it looked like a surefire loss.

In fact, the Panthers were down 27-20 at halftime, due mostly to the clean first half with just three team fouls.

In the second half the Timberwolves, who played stout defense in the first half, managed to continue the level of play with the added benefit of even more forced turnovers, often at critical times where the Panthers seemed poised to make a run and close the gap.

The Timberwolves also had an incredible degree of success from beyond the arc, making eight three pointers en route to victory.

The Timberwolves were led by junior Mason Martinez with 21 points (including 9 of 10 at the free-throw line), and sophomore Jace Krueger, who had 19 points.

The Panthers top scorers were seniors Cameron Joyner and Ryan Carpenter with 21 and 19 points respectively.
