December 20, 2022 – West Bend, WI – I am a resident of Samaritan Health Center for two plus years and had also used their rehab services prior to needing their full-time assistance for all my daily needs. The other residents and myself hope to keep our home here for many more years and provide for those who will need services in the future.
The staff and care received here is a 10 and very much appreciated. They provide our home, welcome our families, friends and pets, help us take part in holidays, manage events and let us be a part of community activities.
The residents here are people; your parents, grandparents, spouses, brothers, sisters, friends and we were your neighbors. We are not “licensed beds” to be sold off to the highest bidder.
Why has the upkeep for the Samaritan building been neglected and postponed? There must have been funds budgeted and now only the most necessary repairs are made. Have those moneys been spent elsewhere?
Our county does have sympathy and compassion for the homeless as there is strong support for Karl’s Place and much financial support is being given to provide “above average” housing for young people graduating school. Where are the funds to keep our Samaritan Home?
Why are the residents of Samaritan considered expendable after a lifetime of supporting Washington County, now they are being disposed of like trash.
The “shutting down” of Samaritan Health Center would give Washington County a “black eye” in taking care of its disabled and senior citizens. Is this the image Washington County wants to portray to the rest of the state?
Please call your county supervisors and let them know Samaritan Health Center needs to remain a plus for Washington County. The county telephone number is 262-335-4301 and the email address of the county supervisors are listed on the Washington County website.
