September 18, 2024 – Village of Richfield, WI – To the Editor: China continues to attack both our public and private sectors. Earlier this month news broke that China had a spy on the staff of the New York Governor. Last month, it was reported that Chinese-backed hackers had hacked their way into two major U.S. internet service providers with the intent to target U.S. citizens.
China continues to demonstrate they know no boundaries in their attempts to overtake the U.S. and our standing as an economic and military superpower.
We can no longer afford to ignore this threat. Just as we did in World War II, we must harness the power of our private sector to meet this new adversary.
In a conflict occurring on the new battlefield – technology – we must unleash U.S. technology companies to out innovate and out development China.
But we can only achieve this if Washington ensures they do not push policies that will make it harder for our domestic tech companies to compete on the global stage.
China is a serious threat to our economy and way of life, and it will take all of us working together to take them on.
