Washington Co., WI – Tis the season for leaf raking or blowing … or fabulous kid-jumping-leaf piles for the motivated.
Leaf collection in Hartford
The Fall Leaf Pick-up for the City of Hartford will begin in October. Neighbors can rake leaves into the curb and gutter of their street. Leaf pick-up will continue periodically until the end of November.
Leaves will not be picked up curbside if they are in bags. Any bagged leaves must be brought to the Recycling Center during recycling hours. Please do not mix branches or tree limbs in with the leaves.
Raked, loose leaves will be picked up at the curb line in October and November only, prior to permanent snowfall.
Leaf disposal in Village of Kewaskum
The grass, garden waste and leaf bin is located in the public works yard. Grass, leaves, and garden waste that will rot down in a compost pile may be placed in the bin. Please empty contents of bags into the bin.
No leaf collection in Village of Slinger
The Village of Slinger does not provide curbside leaf collection services. Residents may collect leaves and dispose of them in dumpster provided at the Public Works yard located next to the Slinger Library. Raking leaves into the roadways is prohibited and may cause blockages in the storm sewer system and could result in enforcement action.
**NEW** CURBSIDE BRUSH COLLECTION DATES
The Parks, Public Works & Forestry Department provides curbside pickup of brush between April and November. Brush must be curbside by 7 a.m. on the first Monday of each month. If a holiday falls on a Monday, brush will be collected the following day. Brush must be cut into pieces no shorter than 3 feet to allow for safe and efficient collection. Branches shorter than 3 feet in length may be brought to the Parks, Public Works & Forestry yard and deposited in the yard waste bin which is provided for lawn clippings and brush.
Branches left for curbside collection must be no smaller than one inch in diameter and no larger than eight inches in diameter. The cut end of the branch must be facing the roadway. All wires, nails and strings must be removed before the brush will be collected. Brush not stacked with cut ends towards the roadway or with wires, nails or stings will not be collected. Root ball and stumps will not be collected. Materials cleared from vacant lots will NOT be collected but may be dropped off at the Public Works yard waste bin..
Leaf collection in the Village of Germantown
Village Public Works Department annual Fall brush pick-up begins the second Monday in October. Although this process will take approximately 2 – 3 weeks to complete, we will not be extending the pick-up, or picking up brush that is put out after the first Monday of the pickup schedule.
Limbs shall be no more than 6 foot in length and placed at the curb with the trunk facing the street for easier handling. Please tie branches 2″ or smaller into bundles no larger than 2 feet in diameter using twine or light rope.
Brush in containers WILL NOT be picked up as too often there is yard waste in the
bottom of the container. Yard waste and leaves are not included in the pick-up.
Leaf drop off in Village of Richfield
The Village of Richfield offers limited recycling at its Transfer Station 1345 Hillside Road behind the Department of Public Works building. It is staffed by part-time employees, and has limited hours and services.
2021 Transfer Station Schedule
Transfer Station services (dropping off leaves and brush) are offered on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. After the third Saturday in November the yard closes until the spring for yard waste and leaves. A nominal fee may be charged for yard waste.
Burn Permits (PDF) are also sold at the Transfer Station for a monthly fee of $3 or an annual fee of $15.
Leaf collection in West Bend
The City of West Bend Public Works will begin the 2021 Leaf Collection on Monday, October 18, 2021.
Leaves are to be placed into the street gutter area for collection. Bags of leaves will not be collected and crews will not remove leaves from the area between the sidewalks and curb. Please do not mix branches with leaves.
- Pumpkin Collection: Pumpkins are not to be placed in the garbage. Please place pumpkins in the street gutter area for collection along with leaves.
- Lawn and Garden Waste: Please do not place lawn and garden waste in the garbage. Residents who choose to bring their leaves or other organic materials to the City of West Bend Drop-off Yard, 251 Municipal Drive, may do so during the following scheduled hours:
