UPDATE | Germantown Police statement about Friday incident at High School

Germantown Police have released a statement regarding a large police presence at Germantown High School on Friday night.

Below is also an update from the school district.

An update to a late-breaking story Friday night regarding a large police presence at Germantown High School. The letter below is from Germantown Superintendent Dr. Chris Reuter.

 

Below is a story that ran earlier this evening starting at 7 p.m.

 

Police and Washington County Sheriff’s are currently sweeping the building after reports were called in regarding a person at Germantown High School.

There is no confirmation regarding earlier reports on social media that indicated there may be a person with a weapon. As of 7:13 p.m. that is unconfirmed.

This is a working story and more information will be posted when details are available.

On a history note: It was October 23, 2023 when a man with a gun climbed on the roof of Kennedy Middle School and was acting erratically.

Buildings were locked down and shots were exchanged between the subject and police.  The subject eventually succumbed to his injuries.

Police Chief Mike Snow said at the time investigators believed that was an isolated incident in 2023.
