March 1, 2024 – Washington Co., WI – As the winter sports season comes to a close, a former high school basketball player from the Washington County area finished off a stellar season on the hardwood closing out her collegiate basketball career. Jordyn Heckendorf, a native of Kewaskum, WI, and graduate of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School (2020) added more accolades to her repertoire.

The senior point guard for the Martin Luther College Knights, earned First Team All-Conference honors in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) which is a member within NCAA Division III Athletics. The UMAC consists of eight teams within central Minnesota and northern Wisconsin.
Heckendorf paced the offense for the Knights averaging a team-high 12.4 points per game which was seventh in the UMAC. On the season, Heckendorf visited the free throw line 86 times where she connected on 72-86 from the charity strip for a team-best 83.7% finishing second in the UMAC.
The point guard’s vision for the court was displayed as she led the conference with 83 assists averaging 3.2 assists per game. Despite being a 5’5” guard, Heckendorf was also the third-leading rebounder on the team and placed top 15 in the UMAC grabbing 117 rebounds and averaging 4.7 per game. On defense, the guard poised nightmares for opponents ranking fifth in the conference with 53 total steals. Rest was a rare occasion for Heckendorf as she logged 824 minutes in 25 games averaging a team-high 33 minutes per game placing second in the UMAC.
Scoring-wise, Heckendorf notched double figures in 18-25 games including a stretch of nine
consecutive games with 10 points or more. The senior was instrumental in leading the Knights to a six-game winning streak, their longest since 2011-12. During the winning streak, the Knights recorded their first win since 2016 over conference foes Bethany Lutheran College and University of Minnesota-Morris.
In her final two games of her career, Heckendorf combined for 46 points (23,21) and eight assists, permanently cementing her name in the Martin Luther College record books, despite a shortened 12-game season in 2020-21.
Heckendorf now sits fifth in all-time career points with 960 and fourth in all-time career assists with 260.

player. Head coach, Dan Gawrisch acknowledged Heckendorf’s contributions to the team. “Jordyn’s pursuit of excellence has impacted and will continue to impact this program in significant ways,” he said.
