In honor of National Breastfeeding Month, Kettle Moraine YMCA has won a Mamava lactation suite to support nursing guests and employees
West Bend, WI – September 1, 2016 – Kettle Moraine YMCA – West Washington Branch, will take home a Mamava lactation suite this month after winning the suite through Mamava’s National Breastfeeding Month giveaway. Kettle Moraine entered the giveaway with a desire to provide nursing moms at the YMCA with a clean, comfortable, and private space to pump or breastfeed.
With a mission to make breastfeeding accessible to all moms, regardless of their circumstances, Mamava opened the giveaway to celebrate National Breastfeeding Month and support locations that had a clear need, but lacked the resources to purchase a pod independently.
Kettle Moraine was one of four finalists – along with Children’s Rehabilitation Telethon in San Antonio, TX, Homeless Prenatal in San Francisco, CA, and Stepping Stones Museum in Norwalk, CT – selected from a pool of over 300 nominations. After two weeks of voting on an online platform, with over 4,500 participants, Kettle Moraine achieved the most votes to win a Mamava lactation suite.
“We are so excited to have won! As an organization with a focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility we felt offering a Mamava Suite would be a perfect alignment. We want to provide an atmosphere that supports and encourages the health of all mothers and children.”
Kettle Moraine YMCA serves over 45,000 people, bettering the lives of kids, families, and individuals through Washington and Ozaukee County. The organization seeks to encourage breastfeeding, providing an atmosphere that meets the needs of all breastfeeding mothers, recognizing that every mother’s experience is her own. For moms who need privacy for pumping, or a quiet space for a distracted nursling, this pod will provide a solution. For moms who prefer breastfeeding in public, they’re welcome to do so anywhere on the YMCA’s campus.
“We’re thrilled to support Kettle Moraine with this Mamava suite. It was amazing to see the energy the organization put into this giveaway, and the dedication they have to their nursing guests and staff. The YMCA is an incredible organization and network, supporting their local communities. This will be our first YMCA to install a pod, and we’re grateful to celebrate with such an amazing organization. Congratulations Kettle Moraine!” Sascha Mayer, CEO.
The Mamava suite is a self-contained, mobile pod with comfortable benches, a fold-down table, an electrical outlet for plugging in a breast pump, and a door that can be locked for privacy. The 4-foot by 8-foot pod is meant for individual use, but can fit more than one person, as well as mothers with babies and other children in tow. The Mamava suite embodies the spirit of Mamava’s “happy breast” logo – beautifully designed to support and celebrate breastfeeding.
Moms visiting or working at Kettle Moraine YMCA – West Washington Branch are welcome to the new suite, and can soon find the pod outside of the babysitting room at the West Washington Branch. The suite’s location will also be listed on Mamava’s free mobile app as soon as it becomes available.
