Kettle Moraine Lutheran secures WIAA regional championship | By Jacob Moeller

March 4, 2018 – Jackson, WI – Kettle Moraine Lutheran claimed its first-ever WIAA regional championship with a 67-57 victory over top-seeded Brown Deer.

The Falcons had eliminated the Chargers from the state tournament in both 2014 and 2015, but now it was the KML’s turn to take the trophy.

The Chargers fell behind 16-7 in the early goings but went on a 20-3 tear to pull in front and going into halftime up 36-30.

The Chargers held off a furious comeback from the Falcons, led by Jay Gentry’s 29 points, but pulled away in the final stages to seal the victory.

Jacob Stoltz, Solomon Zarling, and Zachary Zuleger each put up 16 points for KML, while Grant Biesterfeld added 11.

With the win, KML advances to the Sectional Semifinals, where it will face Alex Antetokounmpo and Dominican on Thursday.
