Feb. 12, 2019 – Waupun, WI – The KML Chargers girls basketball team played its third away game within the course of four days, traveling to compete against the Waupun Warriors.
Unfortunately, the Chargers ended up on the wrong end of the scoreboard in a 57 to 44 loss Monday night.
The Chargers defense kept the team neck and neck in the first half. The two teams headed into half time tied 20 to 20.
Coming into the second half, Kettle struggled offensively, unable to create inside shots, resulting in cold shooting outside the perimeter, which also led to a lack of rebounds.
The Waupun Warriors increased momentum with some three-point shots and post touches.
The clock ticked down; the Chargers hustled for steals and rebounds but were unable to make up the double-digit deficit, leading to Kettle’s only loss in conference play.
Leading scorer for KML was senior, Megan Sina with 10 points. Despite the loss the Chargers remain on top and have secured back-to-back East Central Conference Champions.
The Chargers plan on utilizing this game experience as motivation for improvement and success as they head into the upcoming WIAA playoffs as the No. 1 seed in Division 3.
First however, they will look for a victory over Ripon in a final conference game back on their home court this Thursday.
