June 14, 2023 – Jackson, WI – The Jackson Village Board unanimously approved a resolution to establish and begin fundraising for a K9 Unit.
“We’re very excited to get the K9 Unit up and running in the Village of Jackson. We haven’t had a police dog on our staff for 15 years, and there certainly is a need for the special skills that a K9 offers,” said Jackson Police Chief Ryan Vossekuil.

“Our goal is to add a fully trained German Shephard to our team that will assist with locating illegal drugs, finding missing/ lost persons, criminal apprehension and to promote our community partnerships.”
Jackson P.D. has a fundraising goal of $100,000 which will establish the program and provide ongoing funding, so the program is supported outside of our general budget.
“I don’t know if it will take two months or two years to raise the money, but we are excited to get started,” said Vossekuil. “Adding a trained police K9 Unit will be truly impactful for public safety in Jackson.”
Donations can be made HERE online or by mail to “Jackson PD K9 Unit” to N168W19851 Main Street Jackson, WI 53037, or in person at Jackson PD.
