June 5, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Just a heads up for readers of WashingtonCountyInsider.com, I will be headed on my annual bicycle tour in the next few weeks to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s.
This year the Amazing Ride for Alzheimer’s will tour the Netherlands for three weeks.
During that time there will be a team of people updating the news and posting stories. I’ll also file updates from the road.
The tours were sparked five years ago as a way to try and make a difference for those suffering Alzheimer’s, including my father. This weekend we spent some time doing yard work.
He’s almost 93 and while he’s physically fit, he can’t remember 3 seconds ago. We’ve found exercise and music are big keys to helping him through some of the challenges of Alzheimer’s.
There is a way for you to participate in the tour. Everyone is invited to “The Longest Day” dinner at Cedar Community.
The Longest Day is June 21, the Summer Solstice. The day honors the strength, heart and endurance of people with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.
This year the dinner supports the Cedar Community Walk to End Alzheimer’s team and my Amazing Ride for Cedar Community’s memory care programs.
$20 includes your meal; cash bar available
Tickets available at the main reception desks
