West Bend, Wi – Joseph J. “Joey” Plato, 40, of West Bend, passed away on July 23, 2024, at Froedtert Hospital in West Bend.
Joey was born on October 21, 1983, in Menomonee Falls, the son of Terry and Helen (nee Petermann) Plato. Joseph had a zest for life that was evident in his many passions. He loved the thrill of fast cars and the excitement of NASCAR races.
Fishing trips, solving puzzles, and spending time outdoors brought him immense joy. Whether he was riding his bike, walking his dog, or simply watching the sunset, Joseph found peace in nature. Joey had a passion for sports, particularly when it came to watching the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers.
Whether it was baseball, football, or college sports, he found immense joy in following his favorite teams. His enthusiasm for these games was evident, making him a dedicated fan through and through. Above all, family was the most important and cherished part of his life, including his beloved pets.
Those Joey leaves behind to cherish his memory include his parents, Terry and Helen Plato; two sisters, Carrie (David Rogahn) Plato and Heather (Dan Jankowski) Plato; his nieces and nephews, Hunter and Kelsy Steldt and Gabe and Sam Rogahn; his paternal grandmother, Edith Plato; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog, Rudy.
Joey was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Rudolph “Bud” Plato; his maternal grandparents, Lloyd “Hans” and Doris Petermann; an uncle, Michael Cooper; his uncle and godfather, John Petermann; and by his beloved dogs Sibby, Dexter and Oscar.
VISITATION: Joey’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Myrhum – Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, 1315 W. Washington Street, in West Bend on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
SERVICE: A service for Joey will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the funeral home in West Bend.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Plato family to assist with funeral expenses.
