February 17, 2024 – Kewaskum, WI – Speedskater Jordan Stolz, 19, of Kewaskum set a new track record in the 500-meter racing during the World Championships in Calgary.
Stolz went up against one of the top skaters on the circuit and a local favorite in Calgary as Laurent Dubreuil, 31, was skating on home ice.
At the gun both skaters got off to a strong start and matched in the first turn at 9.45 seconds.

Stolz picked up steam at 61.6 km/h which equals about 38 miles per hour. Dubreuil’s was just below that at 59.6 km/h.
Stolz beat his previous best 500m time of 33.96 and he beat the previously held track record of 33.77 set in 2021 by Dubreuil.
At the finish Stolz crossed in record time of 33.69, just missing the world record of 33.61 set in 2019 by Pavel Kulizhnikov of Russia.

Stolz is slated to skate in the 1000m on Saturday at 2:48 p.m. and the 1500m on Sunday at 4:03 p.m.
