OBITUARY | John T. White, 75, of Hartford, WI

October 5, 2023 – Washington County, WI – John T. White, 75, of Hartford, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born March 13, 1948, in Hammond, Indiana to Daisy (nee McMurray) and William T. “Bill” White. He graduated from Morton High School in Hessville, IN, and continued his education at Indiana University earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

John served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was united in marriage to Barbara J. Hickman on May 26, 1973, at First Presbyterian Church of Highland, Indiana, where he also served as a Deacon for several years. He worked as a purchasing agent at NIPSCO for many years in Indiana until moving to Wisconsin and retiring from WE Energies. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara White; loving children, Zachary White (Emily Goldbach) and Sarah White (Dave Whyle); cherished grandchildren, Alice and Ethan Whyle-White, Andrew White, Lyric Goldbach, and Sean Shannon; brother-in-law, Roger (Sherry) Hickman; nieces and nephews, Geoffrey Schwartzfegar, Sally Beitz, Andrew Hickman, and Monica Biggs; and great-nephew-and-niece, Geoffery and Kailey Schwartzfegar. He is further survived by other relatives and friends, including his dear lifelong friends, Ronnie (Susan) Kellogg and Brian (Tammy) Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, Kavanaugh E. and Leona M. “Lee” Hickman.

A memorial service for John will be held Friday, October 6, 2023, at 6 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford, WI 53027. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Future committal in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crown Point, Indiana, with military honors.

Contributions in memory of John and his mission of helping serve the homeless, are appreciated to the Gary-Merrillville Salvation Army or to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, in care of Barbara White.
