The Jackson Water Utility continued a normal week with Digger’s Hotline locates, valve exercising, fire hydrant maintenance, and meter changeouts. The meter change out generated by the disconnection was completed this week. We have one more ¾ inch meter scheduled in October and two 1½ inch meters to do in order to complete the program for the year. The test results were received from the water samples taken from all wells and distribution system on July 20, 2016. Bac-T samples from all wells were safe. Nitrate samples in all wells ranged from non-detect to 2.9 mg/l with a max contaminate level is 10 mg/l. Well #6 VOCs is non-detect. A leak in the water system was found at Sysco Foods when water was pouring into the truck bay service pits. The hydrant valve bolts had corroded allowing the top of the valve to come apart. This is a private hydrant owned by Sysco Foods.
The Street & Parks Department had a normal week replacing broken trash containers, mowing, prepping ball fields and regular maintenance. The new flags along Main Street (STH 60) have been installed.
